| Deerfield Valley Sportsmen’s Club 24th Annual Harriman Reservoir Ice Fishing Derby Despite Friday’s snow storm, there was a great turn out for the 24th Annual Harriman Reservoir Ice Fishing Derby. Competing for over $26,000 in cash and prizes, contestants from all over the northeast fished on fresh snow under clearing skies on Saturday and enjoyed bright sun and warm temperatures on Sunday. Derby anglers went home with over $10,000 in cash and prizes announced during Sunday’s awards ceremony. Micheal Trevorrow of Townsend took home with a brand new 4-wheel Drive Artic Cat ATV, valued at $5700. Second place in the raffle (a gas powered auger) went to Scott Seargent of Jamaica, who reported that he was leaving the derby for a fishing trip on Lake Champlain. Marcel Lameire of West Dover was a big winner under the new prize structure, taking 1st and 3rd place in the Lake Trout category as well as the heaviest fish caught on both days of the derby. Noah Crawford won not only third place in the perch category for kids ages 1-8, but also took home the Kayla Lackey Award, presented at the awards ceremony by Brad and Erin Lackey. Of the 150 trout that were tagged, stocked in the lake and sponsored by local businesses, 5 were caught this year, paying out a total of $175. The “big fish" - worth a whopping $10,000 during the derby - was still at large at the end of the event.
